Parker Cemetery is one of Titus County's most special cemeteries.  It is special in the sense that it is one of Titus County's oldest; it has been maintained in pristine condition; it contains no monuments but has not been “lost”; and it is deeded and therefore cannot legally be destroyed for other purposes.

The cemetery was named in honor of James M. Parker who once owned the land.  One acre of the 160 acre homestead was set aside for the cemetery.  One can only assume that Parker family members are buried there, but no historical evidence was found to offer clues as to who was interred in this cemetery.

The cemetery sits in a grove of trees on a high hill overlooking Bobby Ziedy's property and Mr. Ziedy is committed to its preservation in its natural state. Thirty to thirty-five native rocks are strewn about the cemetery confines.  Some rocks appear to have once been inscribed, but the elements have destroyed any hope of “readability”.  Although they no doubt once marked grave sites, their scattering prevents determining the graves' location they once identified.  From the example this cemetery serves, every effort should be expended on it's preservation. Too many others like it have been lost and it is hoped that example will not be.
