Information That Titus Cemetery Search Can Provide

Upon receipt, we read your inquiry, search our database, and send you a reply listing all information we have about the person.  You can request multiple searches in the same e-mail, and only need to list one person's name in the subject line.  We reply by a separate e-mail for each name requested, so if you ask for information about three people, you will receive at least three reply e-mails (possibly a few more if we cannot locate the exact name you request but have some that are close).

Information in our database varies from burial to burial, depending on what is available.  Our reply includes as much of the following information we have available for the burial:
       First, Middle, Last Names
       Birth and Death Dates
       Burial Cemetery Name
       Marker Inscription (if any)
Low-resolution marker photo (if a grave marker or tombstone is present and a photo
is available).  We have approximately 18,000 marker photos from all of the major
cemeteries.  We are still photographing some of the smaller cemeteries that are
               located on private property.
Any other notes (who shares the plot, brief information about person, etc if available)
Obituary text is available for some, but not all, burials.  We currently have approximately
8,400 obituaries in file for approx 26,750 burials.  Some years are fairly complete,
but we have almost no obituaries from others.

A high resolution photo of the grave marker or tombstone is available in digital or printed form for a nominal fee.

These local facts that may be of interest:

Titus County was established from Red River County in 1845, with Mount Pleasant as the county seat.

Franklin and Morris Counties were demarked from Titus County land in 1875.  If you are searching for a pre-1875 burial, even though other documents may show it to be in Titus County, it is possible that it is now actually located in Franklin or Morris County.

Our database only covers present-day Titus County.  If we cannot provide the burial information requested, you may find your loved one listed on Franklin or Morris County message boards or cemetery listings.

The Mt. Pleasant Daily Times newspapers are stored on microfilm at the Mt. Pleasant Public Library.

The oldest newspapers begin on September 14, 1923.   It is impossible for us to obtain obituaries before this date.  Approximately the first 6 months of 1924 newspapers are missing.

Please note that we only have Titus County, Texas
burial information.

We are pleased to look up individual burial records for people who are researching their family ancestry, and will e-mail any information we have to them.  We only receive e-mail inquiries (no postal mail or telephone requests) and answer as time permits.  We do not do any other types of research (family traces, courthouse research, etc).  We answer all e-mails, but may not be able to do so immediately and will appreciate your patience.

To inquire about a Titus County burial, simply send us an e-mail with "Research Request: [person's name]" in the subject line.  For example, make the subject of your inquiry e-mail "Research Request: John Doe" and replace John Doe with your family member's name.  You may request more than one search in the same e-mail, so long as at least one name follows the words "Research Request:"

It is very important that your e-mail subject line appear as above.  Your message will be deleted without being opened or read if the subject line does not appear as shown.  ONCE MORE -- IF THE SUBJECT LINE OF YOUR REQUEST DOES NOT CONTAIN "RESEARCH REQUEST:" FOLLOWED BY THE PERSON'S NAME, IT WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT BEING READ - NO EXCEPTIONS!

Please include an exact or approximate given name or birth or death date to narrow your search, as we cannot send all people with the surname "Taylor" or "Smith", etc. in our database.    Each search result requires a separate e-mail reply, and in most cases we have far too many entries to send all members by surname only.  For instance, if we only have 2-3 people listed with the surname you request and you do not provide a given name, we can send them in 2-3 e-mails.  However, if we have many (for example, our database has 166 Taylors and 554 Smiths), we can't send 166 or 554 e-mails.  However, we can search for "John Taylor" and "Johnny Taylor" or "James Smith" and "Jimmy Smith" or "Smith who was born in 1934" and probably reduce the replies to a number that is feasible to send.

Please provide as much information as you have like first/middle/last names, nicknames, birth date, or death date.  If you are requesting information on a widow who remarried after her first husband passed away, please include all surnames that she may be known by.  In many cases, she may be buried (and therefore listed in our database) under her first husband's surname or possibly others.  We realize that you may not be able to provide all of the information, but the more that you can provide, the better our chances of locating your relative in the case of multiple burials with similar names.

It's not required, but as a favor to us, please provide your city and state (and country if outside the USA) in your inquiry.  There is no need to provide an address or any other personal information unless you choose to, we just like to track where our inquiries originate.
