Gladewater Cemetery is an old public cemetery located in rural North Central Titus County.  L. Mark Crooks and his wife Annie E. Crooks donated the original land to the Spring Hill Baptist Church and graveyard.  The cemetery was called Spring Hill Cemetery.  Some time before 1904 the church and cemetery names were changed to Gladewater.  The name Springhill Cemetery was used by a cemetery located a few miles North of Gladewater and just off FM 1402.

The Gladewater Missionary Baptist Church sits adjacent to the cemetery's east side.  Gladewater Cemetery is quite large and well maintained.  The front (east) side of the cemetery is fenced by a welded steel tubing fence and the remainder is fenced with chain link.  The first person interred in the cemetery was Ella Crooks, July 10, 1887, who is buried on row 20.  Gladewater Cemetery may have a claim to fame because the local people say that Arelda Jane Stevenson Sparks, the first white child born in Titus County, is buried there.

Some time in the past, a program of placing concrete blocks at known but unmarked grave sites was conducted and at least 95 of those remain today.  Besides commercially manufactured monuments, a number of irregular markers are used to mark graves including cement blocks, marble foot stones, granite blocks, broken rocks, and a flat granite slab.

When searching burial records, the plot area referred to as "Area 2" is off the road from the back.
