The Bivens Cemetery (also known as the Old Monticello Cemetery), established circa 1861, is one of the oldest public cemeteries in Titus County.  It is located in the Monticello community in rural Southwest Titus County and thereby derives its second name, the Old Monticello Cemetery.   The cemetery was known as the Monticello Cemetery until overcrowding required that a second cemetery, the New Monticello Cemetery, be opened for the community. The New Monticello Cemetery is now known as the Woodman Cemetery.

Bivens Cemetery contains both Caucasian and African-American burials dating to the early 1860s.  The cemetery is divided into three section (Bivens, Hill, African-American) with the African-American cemetery situated between the two Caucasian sections.

Numerous unmarked graves are found in the sections as indicated by ground depressions, scattered rocks, bricks and stones.
