Binnion Cemetery is located in rural northern Titus County.  The Maple Springs Missionary Baptist Church maintains the cemetery, and it is fenced and currently well maintained in a rustic setting on an oil lease.  Joseph Binnion donated the cemetery property.  According to Lynch Harper, Binnion helped bury an Indian child there in 1866.  Jackie Stinson was told the same story and indicated the unmarked grave location is in the Southwest corner of the cemetery.  The earliest death recorded on any existing monument was that of Sarah Bryan, wife of N. A. Bryan, shown as September 30, 1873.  A church is once believed to have existed on the opposite side of the road from the cemetery.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS FROM THE TITUS COUNTY COURTHOUSE:

Travel 1.5 miles North on North Jefferson Street (Business U.S. 271) to the intersection with the Greenhill Road (Texas FM 2152).  Turn right onto FM 2152 and continue north for 12.9 miles.  Texas Farm Road 2152 becomes Titus County Road 1950 where state maintenance ends.  A sign that reads “Binnion Cemetery” located beside a gate to an oil lease marks the entrance to Binnion Cemetery on the left side of County Road 1950.  The cemetery is approximately 200 yards west of Titus County Road 1950.

Turn left onto the oil lease road and drive south.  The lease road will split near a house located to the left side of the road.  Take the right fork.  The cemetery will be in sight on the right side of this road.

This gate and oil lease road turns west from Titus County Road 1950 toward Binnion Cemetery
